About AfroCookbook

African pot cookingAfrica, a continent of great beauty, diversity and wonder, is often depicted as a place of poverty and disease. However, as an African who has seen the good side of this “dark continent”, I believe it has a lot to offer to our ever-globalizing world. As suggested by the title “Afro Cook Book”, this website is about food. But unlike you’re typical cookbook, we have dedicated Afro Cookbook to helping bring awareness about poverty in Africa. Millions of African children go to bed hungry everyday, a fact that is often — either intentionally or unintentionally — bypassed by the haves. We’re here to remind you that there is hope for the continent.

In addition to our primary mission, Afro Cookbook — true to its name — is also dedicated to the diversity in African cuisine. African food, especially those from Sub-Saharan Africa, have long been depicted as simple and primitive and, as a result, have been ignored in the West. Our objective is to help reverse some of this negative bias and help enlighten people on the sophistication and richness that African food brings to the dinner table. We have a lot in store for you, so make yourself at home.
